This is by way of an introduction to ATG new blog page it is intended that trainees at the centre and others will have an input into the material on this page we hope that trainees will participate by posting up information on some of the new skills that they have learnt and life generally from with in the workshop. It is hoped that this will inspire others to take up the challenge and take up a rewarding career in Engineering.
EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK COURSE

We are running the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work course on Wednesday 2 March 2022.The cost of the course is £100 plus VAT per person and runs from 9.00 am—4.00 pm.
This course provides basic First Aid instruction for persons required by their employer to act as the appointed person responsible for the immediate response to a First Aid emergency, in circumstances where there are no qualified First Aiders.

WORK PLACEMENTS
Keiran and Amy, the 2 school pupils who started their work placements with us back in November, have completed their 10 weeks. Both have given us good feedback on their experiences here:

“Friendly environment and was helpful as it gave me further insight into engineering and familiarised me with a working environment.”
Keiran enjoyed working in the Fitting department more whereas Amy enjoyed the Turning and Milling most.
Both have also applied for this year’s Modern Apprenticeship intake and we wish them both good luck with this.
SCHOOL PRESENTATION – Webster’s High School
One of our Instructors will be attending Webster’s High School on Wednesday 9 February @ 2:10 pm to give a presentation on Engineering Modern Apprenticeships. These presentations are a great way to find out lots of information on the Engineering MA and to ask any questions you may have. Application forms will also be available on the day.

ABRASIVE WHEELS COURSE – FEB 2022
We are currently taking bookings for the above course.
The 1/2 day course is to be held at our premises on FRIDAY 11 FEBRUARY 2022 9:00 am—12:30 pm.
This training course offers operators of abrasive wheels from all types of industry the opportunity to be trained to the requirements of PROVISION & USE of WORK EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS (PUWER).
Details of the course content are available in the attached Booking Form.
The cost of the above course is £80 + VAT per person.
We can also hold courses in company and on other dates if required.

FEEDBACK ON COURSES
We ran an Abrasive Wheels course here at the Centre on Monday with all positive feedback 
We also ran an AW course at the site of one of our member companies yesterday and again, all positive feedback. Our Instructor Joe will be attending the same company tomorrow for another AW course.

FIRST AID AT WORK FEEDBACK
We ran a 2 day First Aid at Work Refresher course this week and some great feedback again 😁

A candidate who had previously done their first FAW course a few months back with us, but due to the COVID restrictions at the time, couldn’t do some of the practical elements of the course, and felt she’d be more confident having done these, attended for an afternoon where our Instructor Paul had re-scheduled the normal order of the course to cover all the practical elements.

COMPLETED PATHWAY APPRENTICES
Some more of the Pathway Apprentices have finished their training this week, having completed their 36 weeks training.
These young people have undergone similar training to our 1st year Modern Apprentices and in an ideal situation we would be looking to find them employment as a Modern Apprentice in Engineering. However the hand skills, metaskills and the use of tooling and operation of machines would make them useful in other semi-skilled job roles too.
If you are an employer and have an interest in employing someone who has been already part trained and the skills they have gained align with your business requirements do not hesitate to get in touch.

ATG AUTUMN HOLIDAY
Just a reminder that ATG will be closed on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 October for the Autumn break, re-opening Wednesday 6 October @ 8:00 am.
2021 APPRENTICE INTAKE
Our new intake of apprentices were in this week for their induction and will start their Modern Apprenticeship first year off the job training with us on Monday 6 September @ 8:00 am.
Four of the Pathway Apprentices who started with us this year, have secured Modern Apprenticeships and they will commence their training for the MA on completion of their PA later in the year.
