CAREERS IN ENGINEERING

Angus Training Group Ltd comprises of a number of companies in many aspects of manufacturing who have combined for Training Purposes to give a high standard of industrial training. Technological progress and innovation has called for a new breed of engineering craftsmen and technicians carefully trained to reach a high standard of competence.

TRAINING GIVEN
In order to reach the high level required, each trainee is given thorough and intensive training in the Basic Engineering skills. The training given follows the exacting standards laid down by the Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Alliance. On successful completion of the Foundation training period each successful apprentice will gain a Level II Scottish Vocational Qualification from the Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Alliance, thereafter on satisfactory completion of the work based training a Level III Scottish Vocational Qualification, plus appropriate Further Education Apprentices will be awarded the SEMTA Certificate of Modern Apprenticeship.

FURTHER EDUCATION
Each trainee follows an appropriate day release course at local F.E. College which commences in the First Year of Training and continues throughout the entire Apprenticeship.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

CRAFT TRAINING A minimum of Mathematics to Standard Grade
Or
Acceptable standard based on SQA equivalents.
TECHNICIAN TRAINING A minimum of three acceptable Standard Grade passes including Mathematics, Physics or Technological Studies and English, or acceptable equivalents.

Applicants who are successful at this stage may be invited to an interview at the company in which they would like to be employed, or alternatively at a company where suitable employment is available.
